We are a busy bakery looking for a skilled, passionate, and reliable Experienced Pastry Chef / Baker to join our team. If you take pride in producing high-quality, delicious baked goods and thrive in a fast-paced environment, we want to hear from you.
In this role, you will be responsible for the daily production of our core range, specializing in savory pastry items (pies, sausage rolls) as well as sweet pastries and cakes. You must have a strong work ethic, exceptional attention to detail, and the ability to maintain consistency and quality across high production volumes.
Key Responsibilities
- Savory Production: Handcraft, fill, and bake a diverse range of premium meat and vegetable pies, sausage rolls, and other savory pastry items.
- Sweet Pastry & Cakes: Prepare, bake, and finish high-quality cakes, sweet slices, danishes, croissants, and specialty pastries.
- Dough & Pastry Making: Mix, laminate, sheet, and shape various doughs and pastries from scratch, ensuring perfect texture and flake.
- Quality & Consistency: Maintain precise standards for product presentation, portion control, and flavor consistency across all batches.
- Kitchen Management: Monitor stock levels, assist with ingredient ordering, and minimize waste.
- Food Safety & Hygiene: Adhere strictly to food safety regulations, maintain impeccable workstation cleanliness, and complete daily cleaning schedules.
Skills and Qualifications
- Proven experience working as a Pastry Chef or Baker in a commercial bakery, café production kitchen, or wholesale environment.
- Demonstrated expertise in laminating pastry, scaling ingredients accurately, and mastering the art of high-volume pie and sausage roll production.
- Strong skills in baking, cutting, filling, and finishing a variety of classic and modern cakes and slices.
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure, meet tight morning production deadlines, and manage time effectively.
- Strong communication skills and a collaborative attitude to work alongside our existing kitchen and front-of-house staff.
- Comfortable standing for long periods and performing heavy lifting (e.g., flour bags, large mixing bowls) inherent to a bakery environment.
- Trade qualification in Baking, or Patisserie is highly regarded but practical experience is paramount.
