We are seeking a qualified and experienced Refrigeration Mechanic to join our Property Services team at Greenslopes Private Hospital. This is a permanent, full-time opportunity to work in a well-established, supportive environment within one of Australia’s leading private hospitals.
About the Role
In this role, you will be responsible for the installation, testing, maintenance, and repair of refrigeration and HVAC systems across the hospital. You will play a critical role in ensuring essential mechanical services remain operational and compliant with safety and quality standards.
Your work will directly contribute to the hospital’s ability to deliver safe, effective, and uninterrupted care to patients and staff. All work must be completed in accordance with relevant legislation, codes of practice, industry regulations, and internal hospital procedures.
Key responsibilities include:

Performing maintenance, repairs, and modifications on equipment such as cooling towers, chillers, direct expansion (DX) plant, package units, ducted systems, wall split units, and room air conditioners.

Servicing commercial and domestic refrigerators, freezers, and cold rooms.

Maintaining and troubleshooting building management systems (both electronic and mechanical).

Contributing to the planning and maintenance of periodic service schedules.

Conducting regular inspections and ensuring equipment meets all relevant safety and compliance standards.
This position will require you to become part of the hospital's On-call breakdown team, participating in the On-call roster as required.
About You
To succeed in this role, you will have:

A trade qualification in Refrigeration and Air Conditioning.

At least five years of experience in a similar role.

Restricted electrical licence (QLD).

A current Qld drivers licence.

A sound understanding of relevant codes, standards, and regulations.

The ability to plan, organise, and manage day-to-day tasks independently and as part of a team.

A commitment to safety and quality within a healthcare environment.

Strong communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with colleagues, patients, and visitors.

Previous experience working with HVAC mechanical systems and equipment in a hospital or similar setting.

Knowledge of steam or boiler equipment and systems.

Hold a certificate in working at heights, elevated work platform and confined space.
