About the Role
Are you an organised, efficient, and proactive professional who thrives in fast-paced environments? The Department of Housing and Public Works is seeking an Assistant Cabinet, Legislation and Liaison Officer (AO7) to join the Office of the Director-General, Strategy and Reform.
In this pivotal role, you will support the department's Cabinet, Parliament, and Executive Council functions, ensuring the seamless preparation, management, and dissemination of critical materials. You will also liaise with internal and external stakeholders, provide expert advice on Cabinet and parliamentary processes, and contribute to the department's mission of delivering services that make a real difference to Queenslanders.
What You'll Be Doing
- Managing the secure storage, handling, and dissemination of Cabinet and Parliament Services (CAPS) materials in compliance with guidelines.
- Providing expert advice and quality control on Cabinet submissions, briefing notes, Executive Council minutes, and parliamentary documentation.
- Coordinating and preparing correspondence and reports for the Director-General and Minister to support Cabinet and legislative programs.
- Building strong partnerships with internal and external stakeholders to improve CAPS processes.
- Coaching and mentoring team members to deliver high-quality services while fostering a positive, inclusive, and accountable work environment.
What We're Looking For
We're seeking a leader who is:
- Experienced in handling sensitive and confidential matters, setting priorities, and managing conflicting demands.
- Knowledgeable (or willing to gain knowledge) about Executive Government, Parliament, Cabinet, and Cabinet Committee processes.
- Skilled in stakeholder management, with the ability to build and maintain positive relationships.
- Detail-oriented, with demonstrated experience in high-pressure environments requiring accuracy and attention to detail.
- Committed to workplace equity, diversity, and inclusion.
While there are no mandatory qualifications, a background in public administration, public policy, or law is highly desirable. Experience with SharePoint is also welcomed.
