The Early Childhood Team
The early childhood programs at ECU lead Australia in their stand-alone delivery and are registered both with the Teacher Registration Board of Western Australia (TRBWA) and Australian Children’s Education and Care Quality Authority (ACECQA). Our Early Childhood Studies program provides a specialist course (birth to eight years) with a large team of researchers and academics.
About the Opportunity
Be part of a vibrant and growing early childhood academic community
Develop and contribute to course curriculum at undergraduate and postgraduate level
Engage in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and curriculum and pedagogy development for young children.
Foster a research culture specific to early childhood
Produce high quality research outputs and obtain research grants
Develop and contribute to post graduate curriculum, specifically international markets, in innovative areas of early childhood
Supervision of higher degree by research students
Influence strategic and proactive engagement with industry, the profession, and the community.
About you
We are seeking an emerging or established academic with language and literacy expertise in early childhood education.
Appointees will demonstrate a high level of connectivity between the education of pre-service teachers, their own teaching experiences, engagement with schooling/early childhood and industry sectors, and demonstrated research capability.
Role Requirements
Expertise, experience, and a strong pedagogical approach to education in the early childhood
PhD in a relevant discipline OR
Substantial progress towards a PhD and professional equivalency Professional equivalency, e.g., leadership in a school and/or early learning setting, which would require demonstrated in-depth knowledge of early childhood curriculum, national learning frameworks and the quality agenda with a research profile evidenced by publications and demonstrated ability to teach at University level AND
An established or emerging track record in quality research and outputs in Field of Research code 39.
Experience supporting culturally and linguistically diverse and/or international student cohorts.
The successful applicant will also be required to obtain and maintain a Working with Children Check, a National Police Check and will preferably have Teacher Registration in Western Australia.
