The Opportunity
As a Senior Emergency & Critical Care Veterinary Nurse, you'll be a highly valued member of our clinical team, combining advanced nursing skills with opportunities to support, mentor and guide fellow nurses.
You'll play a key role in delivering exceptional patient care while helping to foster a positive learning environment for newer team members. This is a hands-on clinical role where you'll have the opportunity to share your knowledge, contribute to best-practice nursing standards and help elevate the overall capability of the team.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Deliver high-quality emergency and critical care nursing to a diverse patient caseload
- Monitor and care for complex, hospitalised and critically ill patients
- Assist veterinarians with emergency procedures, diagnostics, anaesthesia and advanced treatments
- Perform patient triage and support emergency admissions
- Provide exceptional care and communication to pet owners during often challenging circumstances
- Maintain accurate patient records and uphold high clinical and hospital standards
- Support the onboarding and development of new and junior nurses
- Provide guidance, coaching and knowledge-sharing during shifts
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and best-practice nursing care
- Assist in maintaining a positive, collaborative and high-performing team culture
- Act as a senior clinical resource for colleagues when required
About You
We're looking for an experienced nurse who thrives in a fast-paced emergency environment and is passionate about delivering exceptional patient care.
You will ideally have:
- Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing (or equivalent)
- Solid experience in emergency and critical care nursing
- Strong clinical skills and confidence managing emergency presentations
- A genuine passion for mentoring and supporting less experienced nurses
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- The ability to remain calm, organised and adaptable in a fast-paced environment
- A commitment to delivering outstanding patient and client care
- A collaborative approach and positive attitude
- Experience mentoring or supporting junior team members
- Availability to work a rotating roster including evenings, weekends and public holidays as required
