About the role
The NSW Crime Commission’s purpose is to disrupt, reduce and prevent the incidence of organised and other serious crime in New South Wales. The Commission is structured into several divisions, support teams and specialist units. The Corporate and Enterprise Services Division is responsible for delivering all corporate and enterprise services to support and sustain the core business and functions of the Commission. These services and functions form the basis of the operating model of the Commission.
As a key member of the Office of the Commissioner, the Governance & Audit Team Leader is responsible for the provision, delivery and management of the Commission’s internal audit, risk management and governance functions and activities under the direction of the Chief Audit Executive. The role supports the provision of assurance to the Commissioner and Audit and Risk Committee about the effectiveness and appropriateness of internal controls and governance in operation at the Commission. The Governance & Audit Team leader is also required to provide operational and strategic leadership to the audit and risk management, and, the governance, internal policies and procedures functions.
Essential Requirements:
- Appropriate tertiary qualifications.
- Ability to develop and execute risk based internal audit programs, including project planning, fieldwork, reporting, review, through to sign-off and completion.
- Excellent writing skills including demonstrated experience drafting reports, correspondence and/or policies.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, liaison and stakeholder management skills.
- Sound understanding and knowledge of governance frameworks, compliance frameworks and ethical standards including the legislative framework for government.
Security vetting:
You must be an Australian citizen to be eligible to work at the NSW Crime Commission.
The recommended candidates must be willing to participate in and secure appropriate security clearances by providing comprehensive details about their personal and financial interests and other relevant information about themselves, their families and their associates.
The Crime Commission Regulation 2022 under the Crime Commission Act 2012 stipulates that it is a condition of employment at the Commission that a member of staff obtain and maintain:
- a security clearance issued by the Commissioner, and
- a security clearance issued by the Australian Government Security Vetting Agency that the Commissioner determines is necessary for the position.
