Ellerslie Farms (previously known as DA Hall & Co), is a large scale agribusiness that operates one of Australia’s largest poultry farms. A key supplier and group member of Sunny Queen Farms, we employ over 500 people across our production and processing operations based at Millmerran, west of Toowoomba in Queensland, with further interests in New South Wales. We offer a professional office hub in Toowoomba which compliments our core business.
Our operations are vertically integrated, covering the entire supply chain from chick rearing, stock feed milling, poultry production, egg grading, distribution and logistics. Our layer systems include Cage, Cage-Free, Free Range, Organic and Pasture Raised. We have our own in-house teams which coordinate bird vaccination, bird relocation, veterinary and nutritional services.

About the Role ...
We are seeking a highly experienced and detail-oriented Tax Administration and Governance Officer. You will lead and strengthen our organisation’s tax compliance, reporting, and governance frameworks. This role is pivotal in ensuring adherence to regulatory requirements while supporting strategic business initiatives through sound tax advisory and risk management practices.
Key Responsibilities
Tax Compliance & Reporting

Oversee the preparation, review, and timely lodgement of all tax obligations (income tax, GST, FBT, payroll tax, and other indirect taxes).

Ensure compliance with Australian Taxation Office (ATO) requirements and applicable legislation.

Contribute to tax effect accounting, deferred tax calculations, and tax disclosures for financial statements.
Tax Governance & Risk Management

Assist in the further design and implementation of robust tax governance frameworks and internal controls.

Monitor and manage tax risk, ensuring alignment with our corporate risk appetite and governance standards.

Lead internal reviews and coordinate external audits related to tax.
Advisory & Strategy

Provide practical tax advice to business units on transactions, investments, and operational changes.

Support business planning initiatives, including restructures, acquisitions, and divestments.

Identify opportunities for tax optimisation while maintaining compliance and ethical standards.
Stakeholder Management
-
Act as a key point of contact for external advisors, auditors, and tax authorities.

Build strong relationships with finance and operational teams to ensure integrated decision-making.

Prepare reports and present insights to senior leadership.
Process Improvement

Drive continuous improvement in tax processes, systems, and data integrity.

Leverage technology to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and transparency in tax reporting.
About You ...

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CA/CPA favourably considered)

Extensive experience in corporate tax, preferably within a large organisation or professional services firm

Strong understanding of tax legislation and governance frameworks

Proven experience in tax risk management and compliance

Excellent analytical, problem-solving and communication skills

Experience with tax reporting systems and ERP platforms

Ability to influence stakeholders and operate at a senior level
