About the Opportunity
We’re seeking an experienced Structural Engineer to deliver high‑quality structural solutions for jigs, fixtures, lifting equipment, and load‑bearing assemblies. You’ll play a key role in designing, analysing, and validating structural components that support safe and efficient production and maintenance activities. Working alongside multidisciplinary engineering teams, you’ll contribute to integrated design outcomes, support fabrication and installation, and help maintain engineering excellence across the project.
Responsibilities
- Develop structural designs for mechanical, lifting, and load‑bearing jigs and fixtures of varying complexity.
- Conduct detailed structural analysis, including static, dynamic, fatigue, and buckling assessments using analytical methods and FEA tools.
- Prepare engineering documentation such as calculations, specifications, sketches, and technical reports.
- Review and verify structural designs produced by internal engineers and external subcontractors.
- Assess and validate design inputs including loads, operational conditions, environmental considerations, and material properties.
- Provide engineering support during fabrication and installation to ensure alignment with design intent and quality standards.
- Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, rigging, naval/structural, and detailed design teams to deliver integrated, clash‑free solutions.
- Respond to technical queries from production, detailed design, rigging teams, and suppliers.
- Ensure all designs comply with relevant safety regulations, structural standards, and engineering governance requirements.
About you
- Degree qualified Professional Engineer (Mechanical or Structural) with 5+ years' experience in structural design and analysis.
- Demonstrated experience in mechanical structures and load-bearing systems, with the practical knowledge and engineering judgement to deliver structural engineering solutions in industrial environments (not building structures).
- Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) or eligible to obtain chartership.
- Skilled in structural analysis techniques and experienced in the use of FEA tools.
- Strong understanding of relevant design standards, lifting structures, and structural integrity requirements.
- Able to work collaboratively across multiple engineering disciplines and lead small teams.
- Strong technical communication skills, with the ability to provide clear, timely, and practical engineering guidance.
- Detail-oriented, proactive, and committed to delivering safe, compliant, and high-quality design outcomes.
Eligibility
This role requires a current National Police Clearance and an Australian Defence Security Clearance to an NV1 level. Your eligibility for this role is dependent on you obtaining and maintaining such clearance.
