Forest Lake Local Doctors is seeking a friendly, reliable and adaptable Medical Receptionist to join our team in a casual position.
The successful applicant must have flexible availability and be willing to assist with sick-leave coverage, including at short notice where possible. Availability to work Saturdays when required is also essential.
You will work closely with our GPs, Practice Manager, nursing staff and other receptionists to provide excellent patient service and support the smooth day-to-day operation of the clinic.
Key responsibilities
- Welcome patients and manage arrivals in a friendly and professional manner.
- Answer incoming telephone calls and respond appropriately to patient enquiries.
- Book, reschedule and manage patient appointments.
- Process Medicare claims, private accounts and patient payments.
- Scan and allocate incoming correspondence, results and reports.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient information.
- Communicate effectively with GPs, nurses, allied health providers and external services.
- Follow clinic policies regarding privacy, confidentiality and patient identification.
- Assist with recalls, administrative follow-up and general reception duties.
- Maintain a clean, organised and welcoming reception area.
- Provide leave and sick coverage when reasonably available.

Previous medical reception experience and familiarity with Best Practice software are highly desirable. However, applicants with strong customer-service or administrative experience who are willing and able to learn quickly are also encouraged to apply.
