Metabolic Disease Unit Research Nurse

About the role
Join the Metabolic Diseases Unit (MDU) at The Royal Melbourne Hospital and contribute to the delivery of innovative early-phase clinical trials investigating novel therapies for rare inherited metabolic disorders. As the Metabolic Diseases Research Nurse, you will end-to-end coordination of clinical trials, support studies from feasibility and ethics submissions through to participant follow-up and study close-out.
Working alongside specialist metabolic physicians and a multidisciplinary team, you will provide expert clinical research coordination for patients across Victoria and Tasmania. This role offers the opportunity to work with emerging therapies, including gene therapies, mRNA therapeutics, enzyme replacement therapies and other cutting-edge treatments, while helping to advance research that has the potential to improve outcomes for people living with rare metabolic conditions
Key Accountabilities
Coordinate the end-to-end delivery of clinical trials within the Metabolic Diseases Unit.
Prepare and manage ethics and governance submissions, study documentation and regulatory requirements.
Recruit, consent and support participants throughout their research journey.
Maintain accurate study records, data entry and reporting in accordance with Good Clinical Practice standards.
About You
Registered Nurse with at least two years' experience as a Research Nurse or Study Coordinator.
Demonstrated experience coordinating clinical trials and managing multiple priorities in a complex healthcare environment.
Highly developed interpersonal, communication and organisational skills with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
Experience developing clinical guidelines, protocols and research documentation.
Desirable
Experience working in rare disease or metabolic disease clinical trials.
Previous experience preparing ethics submissions and maintaining HREC correspondence.
