Our client is a leading Australian manufacturer with a reputation for quality, innovation and continuous improvement. As part of a significant investment in manufacturing capability, they are embarking on a journey to introduce greater automation across their production operations.
This newly created role offers the opportunity to play a key part in shaping that future.
You will identify, scope and deliver automation projects that improve efficiency, reduce costs and increase production capability across the plant. Working closely with Operations, Engineering and external automation partners, you will lead projects from concept through to implementation.
This role is ideally suited to a Manufacturing Engineer who understands fabrication-based manufacturing environments and is excited by the opportunity to drive meaningful operational improvement through automation and smart manufacturing solutions.
Key Responsibilities

Identify opportunities to improve manufacturing efficiency, productivity and quality through automation and process improvement initiatives.

Lead automation projects from business case development through to implementation and commissioning.

Analyse production data to identify bottlenecks, inefficiencies and opportunities to improve throughput and reduce cycle times.

Partner with Operations and Production teams to understand challenges and prioritise improvement initiatives.

Scope, evaluate and manage external automation providers, system integrators and equipment suppliers.

Support the introduction of technologies such as robotic welding, automated material handling, inspection systems and other manufacturing automation solutions.

Develop project plans, budgets and ROI justifications for capital investment projects.

Ensure automation solutions integrate effectively with existing manufacturing processes and safety requirements.

Drive continuous improvement initiatives across welding, fabrication, powder coating and assembly operations.
About You
- Degree qualified Manufacturing, Mechanical or Industrial Engineer.

Experience working within a manufacturing environment involving fabrication, welding, metal processing or similar production operations.

Proven experience delivering manufacturing improvement, automation or capital equipment projects.

Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and production workflows.

Ability to analyse data, identify improvement opportunities and build compelling business cases.

Experience managing suppliers, contractors or external technical partners.

Strong project management and stakeholder engagement skills.

A practical, hands-on approach with the ability to influence and drive change across a manufacturing operation.
