About the Role
As Project Manager, you’ll take responsibility for the successful delivery of commercial and Defence construction projects from pre-construction through to completion.
Working closely with clients, consultants, subcontractors and internal teams, you’ll manage programme, commercial performance, procurement, quality and project risk while ensuring works are delivered safely, on time and within budget.
You’ll lead your project team, build strong client relationships and have the autonomy to make decisions and drive successful project outcomes. You’ll also gain exposure to Defence-based projects, providing the opportunity to work in structured, high-compliance environments and build valuable experience within this growing sector.
Please note: Due to the nature of some Defence projects, applicants must be Australian Citizens and eligible to obtain and maintain an Australian Defence Security Clearance.
What You’ll Do
- Manage commercial and Defence construction projects from planning through to completion.
- Lead Project Engineers, Site Managers and project delivery teams.
- Manage budgets, forecasting, procurement and commercial performance.
- Oversee contract administration, variations, claims and project risk.
- Manage project programmes, resources and key delivery milestones.
- Build strong relationships with clients, consultants, subcontractors and stakeholders.
- Drive safety, quality and environmental performance.
- Ensure project delivery meets relevant Defence, client and compliance requirements where applicable.
- Identify opportunities for value engineering and improved project outcomes.
- Provide clear project reporting and maintain strong communication with internal stakeholders.
What You’ll Bring
- Proven experience delivering commercial construction projects as a Project Manager, or strong Senior Project Engineer experience with the capability to step up.
- Experience delivering Design & Construct (D&C) projects.
- Experience with a Tier 2 or high-performing Tier 3 contractor highly regarded.
- Strong commercial acumen and experience managing project financial performance.
- Sound understanding of construction contracts, procurement and project delivery.
- Strong leadership, communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Relevant tertiary qualification in Construction Management, Engineering or a related discipline preferred.
- Australian Citizenship with the ability to obtain and maintain an Australian Defence Security Clearance.

- Experience taking projects through the full delivery lifecycle.
- Strong client and subcontractor relationship management skills.
- Experience using Procore, Pronto or similar project management systems.
- Commercial carpentry experience will be highly regarded.
