The Sutherland Hospital is now recruiting to a Nursing & Midwifery Staff Bank.
We are offering permanent & temporary roles with the opportunity to work in a variety of clinical areas and departments. The TSH Nurse Bank offers you the opportunity for extended rotations in exciting clinical areas, professional development and clinical support. The Nurse Bank Registered Nurses are allocated across the facility to backfill temporary vacancies for example, maternity leave relief and long service leave. This model differs from a casual pool model. Opportunities will be provided to move from the nurse bank to permanent positions on other units at The Sutherland Hospital as vacancies arise. Opportunities include all specialties across the site.
Positions in the staff bank are either Full-time or Part-time with a minimum of 2 days per week. To be eligible for a position, you must have current Australian work rights, have completed a Transition to Professional Practice Program and have the ability to participate in a seven day rotating roster.

To be eligible for this program you must have current registration as an Enrolled Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (AHPRA) & hold a Nursing & Midwifery Board of Australia approved qualification in medicines administration prior to commencement date on the 9th November 2026.
The Sutherland Hospital Transition to Professional Practice Program for Enrolled Nurses is designed to develop and enhance the skills and knowledge of a first year Enrolled Nurse to implement safe, quality patient care within a supported, clinical learning environment. The program provides an opportunity for newly graduated EN’s to undertake two rotations in a variety of units/departments during the 12-month program.
The Enrolled Nurse delivers high quality nursing care to patients/clients of The Sutherland Hospital consistent with SESLHD and The Sutherland Hospital policies, procedures and standards.
The Enrolled Nurse works under the direction and supervision of the Registered Nurse and assists in the provision of nursing care. Enrolled Nurses retain responsibility for their personal actions whilst remaining accountable to the Registered Nurse for delegated functions.
All Enrolled Nurses must comply and act in accordance with recognised professional and organisational standards established by:
- NSW Health
- The Nurses and Midwives Board of Australia
- South Eastern Sydney Local Health District
Clinical supervision at the point of care is the role and responsibility of each Registered Nurse/Midwife and Enrolled Nurse within everyday clinical practice, in line with the Australian Nursing and Midwifery Council Decision Making Frameworks for Nurses and Midwives.
The TSH Enrolled Nurse Transition Program offers:
- The programs begin with extensive orientation, designed to prepare you for clinical work and introduce you to the clinical setting
- Continuing Professional Development sessions
- Clinical Supervision sessions with the Transition Program Clinical Nurse Educator
- Rotation in two clinical areas over a 12 month period
- Education and support from a dedicated team of educators and senior staff in clinical areas
- Clinical Nurse Educator to coordinate the Transition Program and support your progress
- Preceptors, mentors and Clinical Nurse Educators on each site
- Clinical supervision at the point of care is the role and responsibility of each Registered Nurse/Midwife and Enrolled Nurse within everyday clinical practice, in line with the Australian Nursing and Midwifery Council Decision Making Frameworks for Nurses and Midwives.
