About the Role
The Mental Health Service is committed to delivering high-quality healthcare in partnership with consumers, families, and service providers by providing safe and appropriate care, ensuring equitable access to services, and supporting and developing our workforce.
The Head of Department, Social Work, leads and manages the Social Work clinical services at the Concord Centre for Mental Health (CCMH) and the Professor Marie Bashir Centre (PMBC); with a leadership role for Social Work within the broader Mental Health Service. This includes the supervision of staff, management of professional standards and development of safety and quality within the department.
The Social Work Department consists of Social Workers and Welfare Officers and may also include Allied Health Assistants.
The Head of Department works with the Professional Discipline Director of Social Work and other Heads of Departments to enhance Social Work services, standards and quality across Sydney LHD.

Ideal Candidate
This is an exciting opportunity for a dynamic leader to join a service focused on excellence.
- Must hold a Bachelor or post graduate degree in Social Work that provides eligibility for full membership
of the Australian Association of Social Workers, as well as relevant post graduate qualifications in clinical leadership and/or management or willingness to undertake same.
- An established leader with senior level experience in leadership and management, with a proven ability to drive excellence, enhance clinical performance, and delivery high quality patient outcomes.
- Proven ability to craft strategic pieces to lead change and transformation to improve health service outcomes.
- Proven track record of building high performing teams focused on excellence and improvement.
- Current NSW Driver's Licence (P1 and P2 acceptable).
