We are seeking an experienced and reliable Earthmoving Plant Operator to join our team on a full-time basis.
About the Role
The successful applicant will be responsible for safely and efficiently operating earthmoving plant and equipment in support of Safe Trans Australia's transport, logistics and equipment operations.
The role will involve operating a range of heavy machinery, carrying out equipment inspections, assisting with material handling and general site activities, and ensuring all plant is operated and maintained in accordance with safety and operational requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate earthmoving plant and equipment, including excavators, loaders, skid steers and other relevant machinery.
- Safely load, unload, move and handle materials using appropriate plant and equipment.
- Carry out excavation, levelling, grading and general earthmoving activities where required.
- Assist with the positioning, handling and movement of equipment and materials.
- Conduct daily pre-start inspections and identify and report mechanical faults, defects or maintenance requirements.
- Operate machinery in accordance with manufacturer specifications, workplace procedures and site requirements.
- Assist with the setup and preparation of work areas.
- Perform routine cleaning, lubrication and basic maintenance of plant and equipment as required.
- Maintain accurate records relating to plant inspections, maintenance and operations.
- Follow all workplace health and safety procedures, SWMS and environmental requirements.
- Maintain a clean, safe and organised work area.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors, drivers, contractors and other personnel.
- Report any incidents, hazards, equipment damage or operational issues to management.
- Undertake other duties relevant to the position as reasonably required.
Skills and Experience
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Previous experience working as an Earthmoving Plant Operator or in a similar plant operating role.
- Demonstrated experience operating heavy earthmoving equipment.
- Experience operating excavators, loaders, skid steers or similar machinery.
- Relevant licences, tickets and/or competency for the machinery being operated.
- Good knowledge of safe operating procedures and workplace health and safety requirements.
- Ability to conduct pre-start inspections and identify equipment defects.
- Ability to follow instructions, procedures and safe work practices.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong reliability, punctuality and work ethic.
- Ability to work in different operating environments and locations as required.
