Disability Support Workers – Casual | Students Welcome
Next Reach Services Pty Ltd
Locations: Logan | Ipswich | Scenic Rim | Brisbane Northside
Employment: Casual
Award: Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Industry Award (SCHADS Award) – classification dependent on duties, experience and qualifications
We're Growing
Due to the continued growth and expansion of Next Reach Services, we are looking for additional Disability Support Workers to join our existing team across Logan, Ipswich, Scenic Rim and Brisbane Northside.
As we welcome new participants and expand into new areas, we're looking for the right people to grow with us.
Next Reach Services is a registered NDIS provider supporting people with disability to build independence, participate in their community and work towards their individual goals.
We believe good support is about more than simply filling a shift.
Who We're Looking For
We're looking for good people with common sense.
You don't need years of disability support experience to apply.
We welcome applications from experienced Support Workers, people new to the disability sector, and students currently studying Individual Support, Disability Support, Community Services, Youth Work, Mental Health, Social Work or another relevant field.
For us, attitude, reliability and the ability to genuinely connect with people are just as important as experience.
We're looking for people who are:
- Reliable and punctual
- Down to earth and approachable
- Respectful and non-judgemental
- LGBTQIA+ affirming and inclusive
- Good communicators
- Comfortable working independently
- Able to think on their feet and use common sense
- Patient and able to adapt when plans change
- Able to maintain clear professional boundaries
- Willing to encourage independence rather than automatically doing everything for the participant
- Able to follow support plans, procedures and Positive Behaviour Support Plans where applicable
- Able to complete clear, factual and professional support notes
What You'll Be Doing
Every participant is different, so no two support days will necessarily look the same.
Depending on the participant, supports may include:
- Community access and participation
- Building independence and everyday life skills
- Attending appointments
- Shopping and everyday activities
- Public transport training
- Social and recreational activities
- Employment-related support
- Building confidence and communication skills
- Supporting routines and daily living
- Working towards individual NDIS goals
- Following individual support and behaviour plans
Some participants may require more complex support, while others primarily need someone who can encourage them to get out, participate in their community and become more independent.
What You'll Need
Depending on the participant and particular support role, requirements may include:
- NDIS Worker Screening Clearance
- Blue Card where required
- Current First Aid and CPR
- Current Australian driver's licence
- Reliable vehicle with appropriate insurance
- NDIS Worker Orientation Module
- Relevant qualifications where required for the particular role
Still studying? We'd still like to hear from you.
If you're currently completing a relevant qualification and looking to gain practical experience and paid employment in the disability sector, you're encouraged to apply.
Availability
We're recruiting across:
Logan | Ipswich | Scenic Rim | Brisbane Northside
Supports are available across:
Weekdays | Afternoons | Evenings | Weekends
Some positions may have specific gender requirements based on an individual participant's choice, privacy, dignity and support needs.
When applying, please tell us:
- Where you're located
- Areas you're willing to travel to
- Your regular availability
- Approximately how many hours you're looking for each week
- Any relevant study, qualifications or support experience
- A little about why you'd be a good fit for Next Reach
Most Importantly
We don't want Support Workers who are simply looking to fill a shift.
We want people who understand the difference between doing something for someone and supporting someone to learn to do it for themselves.
If you're reliable, respectful, willing to have a go and genuinely interested in helping people become more confident and independent, we'd like to hear from you.
