The Opportunity
The Allied Health Assistant enhances the wellness and lifestyle capacity of older people through exercise, activities and directives focused on restorative and reablement programs. Under the direction and support of our Physiotherapists or Occupational Therapists you will support the team with the delivery of Allied Health Services, including individual and group programs to consumers and assisting with staff training. THis casual opportunity with work within our service hours of 8am - 4pm Monday - Fridays.
Responsibilities:
- Providing quality care under the clinical supervision of an Allied Health Professional
- Providing Physiotherapy programs safely in consultation with, and as per documented by the Registered Physiotherapist
- Managing Resident’s exercise classes, including general exercise
- Actively participating in the organisation and implementation of therapy programs as prescribed by the Allied Health Professionals
- Ensuring Residents have effective Pain Management
- Demonstrating the provision of care that promotes physical, social, emotional, intellectual and spiritual well being
- Assisting with mobility, falls prevention and pressure area care equipment management and application as prescribed by the Allied Health Professional
- Recording and documenting changes in ambulation and care required for individual Residents in their progress notes
Assisting with training, assessing and coaching of Manual Handling Competencies

About you
Essential:
- Successful completion of Certificate IV Allied Health (or working towards completion of Certificate IV, or Allied Health Professional degree)
- Well-developed interpersonal skills, oral and written communication skills coupled with the ability to work independently and as a team
- Caring and compassionate attitude
- Effective & proactive time management and organisational skills and ability to prioritise workloads
- Sound knowledge of WHS and manual handling practices, preferably in an aged care or health setting
Unrestricted right to work in Australia & willingness to obtain a background check (NDIS Worker Check)
