Middle Mind Services is seeking an experienced and motivated Machinist to join our machining department. Working within a modern engineering workshop, you will be responsible for manufacturing precision components using a range of CNC and conventional machine tools. You will work closely with fitters, fabricators, and the engineering team to deliver high-quality products for clients across various industries.
Key Responsibilities
- Set up and operate CNC lathes, CNC machining centres, and conventional machine tools.
- Perform CNC milling, CNC turning, surface grinding, EDM, and wire-cut machining operations.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documents.
- Manufacture precision components to required tolerances and quality standards.
- Produce one-off, prototype, and batch production parts.
- Conduct machine adjustments, tooling changes, and routine maintenance.
- Inspect finished components using precision measuring equipment including micrometers, verniers, and gauges.
- Support breakdown repairs and urgent machining requirements with fast turnaround times.
- Collaborate with fitters, fabricators, and project teams to meet production schedules.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment in accordance with company safety procedures.
Skills & Experience
- Trade qualification in Engineering – Mechanical Trade (Machining) or equivalent.
- Experience operating CNC lathes and machining centres.
- Strong understanding of machining processes, tooling, and precision measurement.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
- Experience with manual machining, fitting, and general workshop practices.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and within a team environment.
- Commitment to quality workmanship and workplace safety.
Desirable
- Experience with multi-axis CNC machines.
- CAD/CAM knowledge.
- Experience in fabrication, equipment manufacturing, or industrial maintenance environments.
- Forklift licence and current driver's licence.
Pay: $38.00 – $42.00 per hour
