Odyssey House NSW’s trauma-informed services set us apart as a leader in the support service space for alcohol and other drugs dependency. Description:
The Manager – Prevention and Community Development Programs will play a pivotal leadership role in advancing alcohol and other drug (AOD) harm‑prevention efforts across NSW. Working in close partnership with The Buttery, Karralika Programs, the Centre for Alcohol and Other Drugs, and a wide network of local services, communities, and stakeholders, this role leads the delivery of place‑based prevention initiatives—particularly through the statewide Community Drug Action Team (CDAT) Program.
The successful candidate will manage Odyssey House NSW staff and support other staff in supporting the delivery of prevention and community development activities, ensuring programs are delivered consistently, collaboratively, and to a high standard across diverse communities. A key responsibility will be strengthening the program’s evidence base by overseeing evaluation activities, maintaining relationships with external evaluators and academic partners, and embedding evidence‑informed and evidence‑generating practice across the portfolio.
This role is ideal for a strategic, community‑minded leader who can bring people together, navigate complex stakeholder environments, and champion harm‑prevention approaches that reflect local needs and emerging trends. The Manager will be a prominent voice for AOD harm prevention in NSW, contributing to sector leadership, innovation, and continuous improvement.
Skills and Experiences:
Understanding of Primary Prevention and Community Development principles.
Understanding of Alcohol and Other Drugs context in NSW and Australia.
Appropriate tertiary qualifications relevant to Alcohol and Other Drug, Social Work, Community Development, Health Promotion or other similar.
Experience in developing, implementing, and reviewing prevention and community development programs.
Demonstrated experience in delivery and evaluation of primary prevention or similar programs.
Demonstrated experience supporting public communications and advocacy.
Demonstrable experience developing a range of stakeholder relationships ranging from local community members to police and other public service, and with Ministry of Health and Local Health Districts (or similar types of stakeholders).
Demonstrated experience leading and managing a team of staff, including coaching and professional development as well as managing performance.
Ability to manage partnership relationships to ensure delivery to KPIs.
Demonstrated ability to design and deliver on projects.
Current NSW Drivers License.
Right to live and work in Australia.
