Odyssey House NSW’s trauma-informed services set us apart as a leader in the support service space for alcohol and other drugs dependency. Our teams help clients to meet their goals and address underlying trauma and mental health issues, while also developing new skills to improve all aspects of their lives.
We provide a diverse range of services to individuals, families and community education. Our services include withdrawal services; one-on-one assessment and treatment by psychologists and counsellors; group therapy; residential rehabilitation; and free education at Odyssey College.

Description:
The Odyssey Family Recovery Centre (FRC) is a purpose-built residential program supporting parents and children to rebuild their lives while addressing the impacts of substance use.
We are seeking compassionate and reliable Volunteer Drivers to assist with transporting children to and from school, childcare, and early learning services.
This role is vital in supporting children to maintain routine, stability, and engagement in education within a recovery-focused environment
Available Shifts
Morning: Weekdays 7:30am – 10:00am
Afternoon: Weekdays 2:30pm – 5:00pm
DUTIES INCLUDE:
Safely transporting children (and occasionally parents) to and from school and childcare
Providing a calm, predictable and supportive transport environment
Supporting children with complex needs using a trauma-informed approach
Assisting children to safely enter and exit vehicles
Completing vehicle safety checks and required documentation
Communicating delays, incidents or concerns promptly
Maintaining professional boundaries and confidentiality
Reporting any child safety or wellbeing concerns in line with policy
Skills and Experiences:
SELECTION CRITERIA:
- Experience working with children or vulnerable populations
- Patient, calm and reliable approach
- Awareness of road safety and safe driving practices
- Ability to follow instructions and communicate effectively
- Comfortable driving larger vehicles (e.g. 12-seater vans)
- Understanding of trauma-informed care (or willingness to learn)
- Commitment to professionalism and confidentiality
- Desirable Understanding of alcohol and other drug (AOD) recovery environments
- Current NSW Driver’s Licence with safe driving record
Odyssey House is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all Staff to share in this commitment. Successful Candidates will be subject to background checks and undertake mandatory Safeguarding Children and young people Training. As such successful candidates will be required to have obtained:
- Working With Children Check - (volunteer)
- National Police Record Check (or international Police check if living overseas for a period greater than 12 months).
- Completion of organisational induction and training
- Commitment to safe work practices and safeguarding policies
- COVID Vaccinated
