Rockhampton | Senior Leadership Role | Shape the Future of Safety at Aurizon

We're looking for an influential and commercially minded safety leader to join us as Manager Safety Partnering (Network) and play a critical role in driving safety performance across one of Australia's largest rail freight networks. Reporting to Aurizon’s Head of Safety Health Environment and Learning and based in Rockhampton, the role partners directly with senior operational leaders. As a trusted advisor to senior executives and operational leaders, you'll help shape safety strategy, influence decision-making and lead a team of safety professionals dedicated to building a strong, proactive safety culture across the Network business. You'll have the opportunity to identify emerging risks, drive innovative safety initiatives and contribute to enterprise-wide improvements that keep our people, customers and communities safe.
What you'll be doing
- Partner with the Business Unit Executives and senior operational leaders to deliver strategic safety initiatives.
- Provide expert advice on safety, safeworking, emerging risks and opportunities.
- Build capability and confidence by coaching leaders to foster a strong safety culture.
- Be in field and present with operational leaders and key stakeholders.
- Lead and develop a high-performing Safety Partnering team.
- Collaborate with Aurizon’s national Safety Health Environment and Learning Leadership team to drive enterprise strategy and improvement initiatives
- Monitor, analyse, and report on safety data and trends to influence business outcomes.
- Drive continuous improvement and innovation initiatives across Network.
- Enable compliance with legislative, regulatory and company requirements while maintaining a practical, operational focus.
About you
You're an engaging leader who knows how to influence outcomes and build trusted relationships at all levels of an organisation.
You'll bring:
- Significant experience delivering safety outcomes in complex operational or industrial environments.
- Strong leadership capabilities with experience leading and developing teams.
- The ability to translate strategy into meaningful business initiatives and results.
- Outstanding communication, coaching and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Strong analytical capability and the confidence to challenge, influence and drive change.
- Qualifications in a safety-related discipline will be highly regarded.
