We are seeking an experienced and motivated Team Leader – Parks to provide operational oversight and day-to-day leadership of parks maintenance activities across the City's parks, reserves, streetscapes, and open spaces

Salary: $81,610.10 to $82,899.10 pro-rata p.a. (effective 01st July 2026) + 12% Super

About the Role
This hands-on leadership role is responsible for coordinating and supervising turf and horticultural maintenance programs, ensuring high-quality service delivery, maintaining a safe and productive work environment, and supporting the ongoing enhancement of the City's public open spaces. The successful candidate will lead by example, foster a positive team culture, and contribute to the achievement of organisational and community objectives.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Lead daily parks maintenance operations across parks, reserves, and streetscapes.
- Coordinate turf and horticultural maintenance programs to achieve safe, efficient, and high-quality outcomes.
- Ensure the safe operation, maintenance, and use of plant and equipment.
- Train, mentor, and assess staff competency in plant and equipment operation.
- Monitor, inspect, and report on parks and streetscape infrastructure assets.
- Supervise staff performance and support employee development.
- Complete operational reporting and maintain maintenance records.
- Implement traffic management and workplace safety requirements, including risk assessments and site inspections.
- Support the development and review of safety, environmental, and quality systems.
- Liaise with stakeholders and respond to maintenance-related enquiries.
- Ensure compliance with legislative, environmental, and organisational requirements.
- Contribute to continuous improvement and undertake other duties as required.
Essential Requirements
- Certificate III or higher in Horticulture, Parks and Gardens, Turf Management, or a related field.
- Current MR Driver's Licence and White Card/Blue Card.
- Demonstrated experience in parks, horticulture, turf, landscaping, or open space maintenance.
- Proven leadership experience in a field-based operational environment.
- Strong commitment to workplace health, safety, and risk management.
- Well-developed communication, stakeholder engagement, and customer service skills.
- Ability to plan, prioritise, and coordinate operational activities to achieve service outcomes.
Desirable Experience
- Proficiency in operating and maintaining specialised horticultural and turf equipment.
- Current Senior First Aid Certificate.
- Current Basic Traffic Management Certificate.
- Current Chainsaw Operator's Ticket.
- Experience training, mentoring, and developing staff.
