About the Team
CHQ Pharmacy is dedicated to providing and supporting high quality clinical and medication management services to the children and young people of CHQ. The pharmacy service has a staff of approximately 110, including pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, administrative staff and support staff. The pharmacy team provides services to inpatients, outpatients, hospital in the home, cancer care services, poisons information, aseptic compounding, clinical trials along with safety, quality and governance. The Queensland Poisons Information Service is part of CHQ Pharmacy and provides 24 hour a day emergency service in cases of poisoning.
About the Role
The position of Pharmacist (Registrar) will:
Provide quality pharmacy services on a rotational basis to multiple Pharmacy work units and multidisciplinary teams throughout Children's Health Queensland Hospital and Health Service, and to customers of Queensland Health in accordance with our organisational goals.
Participate in a structured, formalised, supported and accredited training program for a temporary fixed term period of up to 2 years. There is no permanent employment associated with this engagement at the conclusion of the training program.
Complete the mandatory requirements of the Advanced Pharmacy Australia (AdPha) (previously known as the Society of Hospital Pharmacists of Australia) Training Program (resident or registrar) with support from the pharmacy department. Registrar candidates will demonstrate their advancement through a portfolio of practice-based experiential training, that acknowledges the practice-based format of the training programs.
Registrar Training Program
The two-year Registrar Training Program offers registrar-candidates the opportunity to:
Develop their skills in accordance with ANZCAP Pharmacist Registrar status of the National Competency Standards Framework for Pharmacists in Australia 2016
Advance their practice in generalist or specialist practice areas
Enhance their sphere of influence.
The Registrar Training Program is ideal for pharmacists with three to seven years of foundation hospital experience. Prospective registrar-candidates may have:
Completed an AdPha Resident Training Program (previously known as a Foundation Residency), or
Equivalent experience, defined as at least two years post-registration hospital pharmacy experience, in an environment that provides suitable broad foundation experience for the relevant Registrar Training Program practice area.
Pharmacists with more than seven years of experience may also be suitable for the Registrar Training Program if they are moving into a defined or specialised area of practice that is new for them.
Pharmacists may be interested in undertaking the Registrar Training Program if they:
Have prior experience in a defined practice area and are seeking to specialise or advance their practice, or
Have been recently recruited to a senior pharmacist/leadership role without significant experience in the area and are able to undertake a Registrar Training Program to support their professional practice and development in their new role.
