Role Description:
We are seeking an experienced
Commercial Specialist to provide expert commercial, procurement and contract management support for the delivery of advanced Uncrewed Aerial System (UAS) programs within a high-profile Defence capability environment. This role will play a critical part in developing procurement strategies, managing complex commercial arrangements and supporting the acquisition and sustainment of innovative capabilities.
Working closely with Defence stakeholders, industry partners and project teams, you will apply your commercial expertise to deliver value-for-money outcomes, manage risk, and ensure procurement activities align with Defence policies, governance frameworks and strategic objectives.

This full-time position is based in either Brisbane or Canberra.
What will I be doing day to day?
- Develop and implement procurement strategies that support the rapid acquisition and sustainment of Defence UAS capabilities
- Contribute to the successful delivery of strategic Defence capability programs through sound commercial and procurement practices
- Provide expert advice on contracting approaches, including standing offers, panel arrangements and performance-based contracts
- Support and lead market engagement activities, including Requests for Information (RFIs), Requests for Tender (RFTs) and industry briefings
- Ensure procurement and contracting activities comply with Commonwealth Procurement Rules and Defence-specific policies
- Conduct commercial risk assessments and provide advice on risk mitigation strategies
- Support contract negotiation, establishment and ongoing management activities
- Work collaboratively with a range of internal and external stakeholders to achieve project outcomes.
- Ensure adherence to governance requirements, export controls, ethical obligations and relevant legislative frameworks
What sort of skills do I need?
- Certificate IV in Procurement and Contracting
- A tertiary qualification in Business, Law, Commerce, Finance or a related discipline will be highly regarded
- Demonstrated experience in procurement, commercial management and contract administration within complex environments
- Strong knowledge and practical experience with the ASDEFCON contract suite, from contract development through to in-service management
- Proven negotiation skills with the ability to achieve positive commercial outcomes
- Experience interpreting contractual documentation and developing contract management approaches to meet complex business requirements
- Understanding of Commonwealth procurement frameworks and Defence governance requirements
- Knowledge of Australian Industry Capability (AIC) frameworks is desirable
- Australian citizenship and an NV1 Security Clearance
