This is a permanent full-time position commencing August 2026
The Financial Planning and Resourcing Directorate of the Department of Education is responsible for internal and external budget related functions, including:
overall budget and resource management,
cost and demand modelling,
providing strategic financial advice,
school resourcing, and
financial management reporting.
As a member of the Financial Planning and Resourcing leadership team, you will lead the directorate and work in collaboration with key external and internal stakeholders to share a common commitment to meeting the needs of all students across the state.
The Role
The Manager, Budget Strategy and Resourcing leads the Department’s engagement with the State Government’s budget processes. This includes developing submissions to the Expenditure Review Committee (ERC), coordinating the preparation of the budget statements, including supporting information for budget estimates’ hearings, and maintaining information in the Department of Treasury and Finance’s Strategic Information Management System. The manager plays a key role in maintaining the Department’s relationship with the Department of Treasury and Finance and has responsibility for maintaining the Department’s cost and demand model.
The successful applicant will provide strategic, high-level advice to the Department’s Executive on budget formulation and management issues. Applicants with high-level communication skills and experience in financial planning, resource management and delivering timely budgets and related financial management services are strongly encouraged to apply.
In this role you will provide leadership, supervision and performance management of staff and encourage and assist with the development and implementation of strategies to ensure effective, accurate and transparent financial management outcomes. You will also establish and maintain effective partnerships and networks across the Department and with key external stakeholders to achieve departmental objectives
