Are you passionate about delivering practical, outcome-focused legal advice and supporting a range commercial and property matters? This role offers the opportunity to work across a broad range of legal issues, from transactional and land-related matters to general advisory, while engaging with diverse stakeholders across Council. You’ll play an important role in helping to deliver legally sound and commercially practical solutions that contribute to meaningful community outcomes. Your responsibilities will include:
- Providing legal advice and support across Council operations, particularly in relation to commercial and property matters.
- Supporting transactional legal matters, including land dealings and related processes.
- Preparing legal documentation, including contracts, legal briefs, and reports.
- Managing legal matters, including undertaking due diligence.
- Supporting organisational projects and working collaboratively within multi-disciplinary teams.
- Communicating and, where required, advocating legal and business matters to stakeholders.
- Undertaking legal research and preparing supporting material.
Skills and experience:
Experience preparing legal documentation, including contracts, court documents, and reports.
Ability to provide clear, practical legal advice across a range of matters.
Well‑developed communication, negotiation, and stakeholder engagement skills.
Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities.
Experience in commercial and/or property law, particularly within government, environmental, contracts, land use, or town planning matters is desirable

Eligibility:
- You'll hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Law (or equivalent).
You’ll hold a current practising certificate or be eligible for admission as a Solicitor or Barrister in Queensland.
You’ll have a minimum of 2 years’ post‑admission experience as a supervised solicitor, or similar experience.
- Successful applicants will be asked to consent to a criminal history check. Please note that people with criminal records are not automatically barred from applying for this position. Each application will be considered on its merits.
- To be eligible for employment, applicants must have the legal right to work in Australia.
