Who We Are
Matso’s has always been a little different, but we’re proud of that. Sometimes our remoteness has forced our hand, other times the heat has driven us to think differently about flavour and refreshment. From tropical places, with tropical heat, it takes a lot of Australian character and a great sense of humour to thrive.
Starting life as Australia’s most remote brewery at our spiritual home in Broome WA, Matso’s is now enjoyed at pubs, bars and backyards right across the country. In late December 2023 we launched Matso's on the other side of the country in Eumundi on the beautiful and laid back Sunshine Coast.
Inspired by our original, our second home taps into the heritage of an old Queensland pub with a newly renovated building in the back, bringing a large indoor and outdoor made for the family or for a late arvo Ginger Beer on ice.

About The Role
If you enjoy hospitality and want to advance your career, we have an exciting Full-Time Duty Manager position available at Matso's Sunshine Coast. You'll oversee the daily operations of the venue, making sure guests have a great experience, staff are well-trained and motivated, and the venue meets its quality and financial goals.
Day to day, you'll lead the floor through service, coordinate food and beverage operations, train staff, handle customer complaints, and enforce health, safety and RSA standards. You'll report to the Venue Manager.

What You'll Be Doing
- Lead the floor day to day — direct the FOH team, manage sections and keep service sharp through the rush
- Own the guest experience: warm, attentive, genuine service with the little touches that make the difference
- Manage bookings and table flow on busy days (Now Book It), and keep ordering running smoothly (Mr Yum, H&L)
- Run opening and closing procedures, and keep the venue clean, set and compliant
- Work hand-in-hand with the kitchen — run food, clear tables, manage the pass and cut down wastage
- Keep the ambience right: lighting, temperature and music checked every hour (we call it LITMUS)
- Train and develop the team on service, product knowledge and pouring the perfect beer
- Uphold responsible service of alcohol, food safety and venue compliance
Skills and Experiences:
What We're Looking For
- 2+ years' hospitality experience, with real time spent leading a restaurant floor
- A natural floor manager — calm under pressure, quick to read a room, great with people
- Proven ability to motivate and train a team
- Strong knowledge of restaurant and bar service, plus a genuine passion for good beer
- Food handling certificate, and a working knowledge of liquor licensing and food safety
- First aid / fire warden training (or the willingness to get there)
- Confident on venue systems — Mr Yum, Now Book It and H&L a bonus
