We are a well-established and busy Korean restaurant committed to providing authentic Korean cuisine and excellent customer service. Our menu features a wide variety of Korean BBQ, traditional Korean dishes, hot pots, soups and other signature menu items prepared using fresh, high-quality ingredients. Due to continued business growth, we are seeking an experienced and motivated full-time Chef to join our professional kitchen team.
About the Role
The successful applicant will play a key role in the daily operation of our commercial kitchen. You will be responsible for preparing and cooking a wide range of authentic Korean dishes while maintaining consistently high standards of food quality, presentation and food safety. You will work closely with the kitchen team to ensure efficient service during busy lunch and dinner periods and contribute to maintaining a clean, organised and productive kitchen environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook a variety of Korean BBQ dishes, traditional Korean cuisine and hot pot menu items.
- Ensure all meals are prepared to a consistently high standard in accordance with the restaurant's recipes and presentation requirements.
- Assist with menu planning and the development of seasonal or new menu items.
- Monitor food quality, portion control and stock rotation to minimise food waste.
- Ensure compliance with food safety, hygiene and workplace health and safety requirements.
- Assist with ordering, receiving and storing food supplies.
- Work collaboratively with other kitchen staff to ensure efficient kitchen operations during busy service periods.
- Train and support junior kitchen staff where required.
Essential Requirements
- Relevant qualification in Commercial Cookery (Australian qualification or equivalent).
- Minimum 2 years' experience working in a commercial kitchen.
- Strong knowledge of food preparation, food safety and kitchen hygiene practices.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced restaurant environment.
- Excellent organisational, communication and teamwork skills.
- Reliable, motivated and able to work evenings, weekends and public holidays.
Desirable
- Previous experience preparing Korean cuisine and Korean BBQ.
- Experience working in a busy restaurant in Australia.
- Ability to contribute to menu development and kitchen supervision.
Pay: $78,000.00 – $80,000.00 per year
