About the Role
As a Clinical Nurse (CN) within our Mental Health Care Program (MHCP), you will play a crucial role in providing high-quality mental health nursing care across various settings. Your practice, shaped by your experience and further education, will help guide your ongoing development from a competent to a proficient practitioner. In this position, you will take accountability for your own practice standards while also mentoring and supporting less experienced staff, ensuring a collaborative and growth-focused environment.
While the CN role is primarily clinical, you will have opportunities to expand your horizons through assigned portfolios that align with your career development goals and the strategic priorities of the MHCP. Additionally, you may engage in clinical teaching, research, and contribute to broader MHCP projects such as developing clinical protocols and guidelines. If you are passionate about advancing mental health care and nurturing the next generation of nursing professionals, we invite you to join our dedicated team and make a meaningful impact in the lives of those we serve.
About You
We are seeking a dedicated Clinical Nurse with a strong passion for mental health care. The ideal candidate will possess the following key qualifications and skills:
Qualifications: Registered with the Nursing & Midwifery Board of Australia and holding a current practising certificate, alongside a qualification equivalent to a Graduate Diploma in Mental Health Nursing.
Leadership Skills: Strong leadership abilities, including effective communication, problem-solving, conflict resolution, and negotiation skills, with experience in coordinating and supervising nursing staff.
Experience: A minimum of three years post-registration experience, showcasing competence in caring for individuals with complex mental health needs and a proven track record in facilitating change within multidisciplinary teams.
Knowledge: Comprehensive understanding of mental health nursing theories, national competencies, and relevant legislation, as well as familiarity with quality improvement systems and community support services.
