About the role
We are looking for an experienced finance and advisory professional to join our growing Advisory team.
Working closely with the Head of Advisory, this role combines corporate advisory, vCFO services, financial modelling and transaction support, providing exposure to a diverse portfolio of privately owned and growing businesses.
The successful candidate will bring a strong commercial finance foundation together with meaningful experience in M&A, corporate development, transaction advisory or corporate finance. International or cross-border transaction exposure will be highly regarded as we continue to broaden the capability of our Advisory practice.
Key responsibilities
- Support the Head of Advisory in managing and developing a portfolio of advisory clients.
- Deliver vCFO and commercial advisory services including management reporting, budgeting, forecasting, cash-flow management and business performance analysis.
- Build, review and maintain integrated financial models, forecasts, scenario analyses and transaction models.
- Support buy-side and sell-side M&A engagements, including financial analysis, due diligence, valuation, transaction preparation and deal execution.
- Undertake business valuations using methodologies including discounted cash flow, trading multiples and transaction multiples.
- Assess acquisition, investment and strategic growth opportunities and translate financial analysis into practical commercial recommendations.
- Prepare Board, investment committee, lender and stakeholder presentations and decision-support materials.
- Participate in and progressively lead client Board and management meetings, presenting financial performance, strategic insights and recommendations.
- Coordinate transaction and advisory workstreams involving clients, accountants, lawyers, financiers and other external advisers.
- Support broader corporate, financial reporting and tax advisory engagements in collaboration with other members of the team.
- Identify operational and financial performance issues and develop practical, actionable recommendations for clients.
- Build strong long-term client relationships and act as a trusted commercial adviser.
About you
You will ideally have:
- A Bachelor's degree or higher qualification in finance, accounting, business, economics, commerce or a related discipline.
- At least 5 years' relevant professional experience across corporate advisory, transaction advisory, M&A, corporate finance, professional services or a comparable commercial finance environment.
- Demonstrated experience supporting M&A, corporate development or investment transactions, including buy-side and/or sell-side engagements.
- Strong financial modelling capability and advanced Excel skills.
- Experience undertaking business valuation and investment analysis, including DCF and market or transaction multiple methodologies.
- Experience with transaction due diligence and the ability to identify and assess commercial and financial risks.
- Strong financial accounting and financial statement analysis skills.
- Experience with budgeting, forecasting, cash-flow modelling, management reporting and other management accounting disciplines.
- Experience preparing high-quality Board, executive, investor or investment committee materials.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the confidence to communicate financial and commercial matters to business owners, executives and Boards.
- A pragmatic, hands-on approach to problem solving and the ability to turn detailed analysis into clear commercial recommendations.
- Strong stakeholder-management skills and the ability to coordinate multiple workstreams and external advisers.
- A collaborative mindset, strong work ethic and ability to take ownership of client deliverables.
International or cross-border M&A, corporate development or transaction advisory experience will be strongly regarded, particularly where the candidate has worked with businesses, investors or advisers across multiple jurisdictions.
Experience within Big 4, mid-tier, boutique corporate advisory, private equity-backed businesses or corporate development environments will also be highly regarded.
