About the role
BAIG PARTNERS PTY LTD is seeking a talented Junior Accountant to join our growing accounting team in Hobart. This is a part-time position that offers flexibility whilst providing valuable experience in a professional accounting environment. As a Junior Accountant, you will play an essential role in supporting our clients and internal financial operations, gaining hands-on experience across various accounting functions. This position is ideal for someone looking to develop their accounting career whilst maintaining work-life balance.
Key responsibilities
- Assist in the preparation and processing of financial statements and accounting records
- Perform data entry and reconciliation of accounts, ensuring accuracy and completeness
- Support the management of accounts payable and accounts receivable functions
- Assist with general ledger maintenance and month-end closing procedures
- Help prepare tax documentation and support compliance requirements
- Provide administrative support to senior accounting staff
- Liaise with clients to gather necessary financial information and documentation
- Assist with bookkeeping duties and financial record organisation
- Support audit preparation and assist with internal control procedures
What we're looking for
- Relevant accounting qualification or currently enrolled in an accounting qualification (such as Bachelors or equivalent)
- Proficiency in accounting software packages, with knowledge of MYOB, Xero or similar platforms being advantageous
- Solid understanding of fundamental accounting principles, practices and terminology
- Excellent attention to detail with strong numeracy skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Office applications
- Organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively
- Good communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with team members
- Reliability and a professional approach to work
- Previous experience in an accounting role or relevant work experience is desirable but not essential
- Working towards CA ANZ or CPA qualification.
