What you will do
As senior solicitor, you will provide legal advice across complex regulatory and administrative matters.
You will support the department through litigation, reviews, briefings and tribunal matters.
You will:
- provide authoritative legal advice on legislation, licensing and regulatory matters
- prepare clear briefings, instruct counsel and represent the department in VCAT matters
- conduct prosecutions and support enforcement action when required
- review work completed by junior staff and provide constructive feedback
- manage complex legal issues independently while working within tight timeframes.
About you
You must hold admission to practise as a lawyer of the Supreme Court of Victoria. You should also have at least four years post-admission experience or equivalent experience.
You should also have:
- strong experience providing legal advice on complex and sensitive matters
- sound knowledge of government processes, administrative law and regulatory environments
- the ability to communicate difficult legal issues in a clear and confident way
- a collaborative approach and the ability to adapt to changing priorities.
