About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated and motivated Assistant Coach to join our coaching team. This role will take primary responsibility for leading and developing our State Squad, including programming, session delivery, athlete development, and fostering a positive, high-performing team culture.
The successful candidate will also have the opportunity to support our Head Coach and Senior Assistant Coach across selected National Age and Open Squad sessions, providing valuable exposure to a high-performance environment and the athlete development pathway.

Key Responsibilities

Lead and coach the State Squad

Design and deliver age-appropriate training programs and periodisation plans

Monitor athlete progress, provide feedback, and support individual development

Foster a positive, inclusive, and high-performing squad culture

Build strong relationships with swimmers, parents, coaches, and club stakeholders

Attend targeted competitions and support swimmers at events
-
Assist with National Age and Open Squad sessions as required
-
Support broader program initiatives, including athlete retention, recruitment, and club promotions

Ensure all coaching activities are delivered in accordance with club standards, policies and safety requirements
About You
You are an enthusiastic coach who is passionate about competitive swimming and developing young athletes. You enjoy building positive relationships, creating engaging training environments, and helping swimmers achieve their potential both in and out of the pool. You will bring:

Australian Coaching Licence or equivalent

Provide First Aid Certification

A minimum of 2 years' experience coaching squads and state-level swimmers

Strong technical knowledge of stroke development and competitive swimming

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

A collaborative, proactive, and professional approach

Flexibility to work early mornings, evenings, weekends, and competitions as required
