Picture starting your morning in a hospital where you know every member of the team, your ideas are genuinely heard, and you have the opportunity to shape what comes next.
At Kwinana Veterinary Hospital, we’re entering an exciting stage of growth - and we’re looking for a Lead Veterinarian who wants to help guide the journey.
You’ll initially work alongside one other permanent veterinarian, with recruitment underway to grow the team around you. This is an opportunity to create something meaningful: helping welcome new team members, influencing how the hospital operates and building the supportive, collaborative culture you’d want to work within yourself.
Two days each week will be dedicated to surgery, giving you regular time in theatre to maintain and develop your surgical skills. The remainder of your week will include consulting, working through varied cases and supporting the clinical development of the team.
You’ll also participate in a 1-in-3 weekend roster - but importantly, these hours are included within your full-time hours, rather than being added on top. We want leadership to be rewarding and sustainable, with space for a life outside the hospital too.
-
Provide clinical leadership and support to a growing team
-
Help shape the hospital’s clinical standards, workflows and culture
-
Mentor veterinarians and nurses with warmth and approachability
-
Enjoy two dedicated surgery days each week
-
Remain hands-on with consulting, surgery and patient care
-
Work closely with the Practice Manager to guide the hospital’s continued growth
-
Be part of the recruitment and development of the future veterinary team
You don’t need to be the loudest person in the room to be a great leader.
You might already be working as a Lead Veterinarian, or you may be an experienced veterinarian ready to take the next step. What matters most is that you’re someone others feel comfortable turning to - someone who enjoys sharing knowledge, supporting colleagues and helping a team succeed together.
You’ll bring:
-
Registration, or eligibility for registration, with the Veterinary Surgeons Board of Western Australia
-
Strong general practice consulting and surgical skills
-
A collaborative and supportive leadership style
-
A genuine interest in mentoring and developing others
-
The confidence to make clinical decisions and help guide hospital standards
-
Excitement about joining a hospital during a period of growth
We know the right leadership role looks different for everyone, which is why we’re committed to working with you to make this opportunity genuinely fit your life, goals and interests.
You’ll have the flexibility to help build your own roster, alongside benefits including:
-
$2,000 annual CPD allowance
-
One week of paid study leave each year
-
Complimentary CPD workshops and courses through our very own Veterinary Training Centre
-
Flexibility to shape a roster that works for you
-
Opportunities to connect and work with experienced veterinarians across the wider VetPartners network
You’ll have a community of experienced colleagues to learn from, bounce ideas off and call upon for support - while still having the autonomy to shape the team and hospital in your own way.
Whether you’re looking to develop your leadership capabilities, grow a particular clinical interest or learn alongside vets with different areas of expertise, we’ll work with you to create a role where you can continue growing too.
Some leadership roles ask you to step into something already built. This one gives you the chance to help build it.
If you’ve been waiting for an opportunity where your voice, experience and leadership can make a visible difference, we’d love to introduce you to Kwinana Veterinary Hospital.
