Details: The ACT Emergency Services Agency is seeking a Senior Public Information Officer to support the delivery of clear, timely and effective communication to the Canberra community.
In this dynamic position, you’ll lead the development and delivery of high-impact communication and engagement strategies that reach diverse audiences across government, media and the public. From crafting media releases and campaign content to advising senior executives and supporting major incidents, no two days will be the same.
We’re looking for someone with strong writing and communication skills, sound judgement and the ability to manage competing priorities. You will be comfortable working both independently and as part of a team, building effective relationships across government and with external stakeholders.
This is a fast-paced environment, so you’ll need to be organised, adaptable and able to respond to changing priorities while maintaining attention to detail.

Eligibility/Other requirements:

Tertiary qualifications in the field of communications and/or a related discipline area is highly desirable.

Experience working in a high pressure, fast-paced environment such as emergency services is highly desirable.

An understanding of and experience in direct media liaison, preferably with the ACT media is highly desirable.

The successful applicant will need to be available for occasional weekend and after-hours work.
Note: This is a temporary position available immediately for six months with the possibility of extension up to 12 months.
A Merit Pool will be established from this selection process and will be used to fill similar vacancies over the next 12 months.
