The opportunity
We have a temporary opportunity for an Operations Assistant to join the NSW EPA. In this role, you will undertake a range of matters relating to native forestry, a contested and prominent regulatory environment at the EPA. You will be part of a team that contributes to advice for operational teams and supports the development of technical policy. This team is passionate about enabling the sound and consistent regulation of both public and private native forestry. This role offers opportunities to work collaboratively across teams and agencies, contributing to work that helps improve regulatory practice to deliver positive environmental outcomes.
About you
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- A Current Australian Class C Driver's Licence
- Knowledge of current relevant environmental legislation
- Some experience with GIS, particularly in the environmental context (desirable)
- Awareness of Forestry legislation and Integrated Forestry Operations Approvals (desirable)
- A background in environmental studies, preferably with a focus on ecology
About the team
The Soil & Ecology team sits within the Technical branch where collaborative partnerships with other diverse technical groups drive environmental and human health outcomes for NSW. You’ll have the opportunity to be a part of the planning and strategy for the protection of NSW native forests. The complexity and contested nature of the work develops strengths in creating innovative and practical solutions with people dedicated to achieving long-term outcomes.
