Senior Dental Assistant & Team Leader First Choice Dental | Narellan, NSW
This isn't a standard DA role.
If you're looking for a quiet chair-side position where you turn up, assist, and go home, this isn't it.
We're looking for someone who wants to lead a team, drive results, and help build something. Someone who spots a problem before being told about it. Someone who comes with solutions.
About us
First Choice Dental is one of the most respected dental practices in South Western Sydney. 4.9 stars across 186 Google reviews. A growing team. A five-room expansion underway. We're not the cheapest practice in the area and we're not trying to be. We compete on quality, thoroughness, and genuine clinical care.
Our patients stay because of how they're treated. Our team stays because the standard is high and the work is meaningful.
What the role actually involves
- Leading and developing the DA team day to day
- Training new and junior team members and holding them to a standard
- Supporting treatment presentation and patient communication
- Reading practice data and knowing what it means
- Holding people accountable, including having direct conversations when something isn't working
- Being the energy in the room, the person the team looks to when things get hard
- You'll work closely with the principal dentist and practice manager. You'll be expected to act independently, escalate when needed, and always come with a point of view.
- You can take a confused or overwhelmed patient and make things simple for them. You don't use jargon. You don't rush them. You read where they're at and you find the words that land. By the end of the conversation they understand what's going on, what's recommended, and why it matters. Patients leave clearer than when they arrived, and that's because of you.
Who you are
- Experienced dental assistant (minimum 3 years, ideally in a busy private practice)
- You've led people before, formally or informally, and you liked it
- You're a natural communicator. Patients trust you quickly. The team listens to you.
- You're comfortable with data. You can look at a production number and know what question to ask next.
- You know how to say no without making it a fight. When a patient pushes back on a recommendation, you don't fold to keep the peace. When a team member cuts a corner, you call it, calmly and directly. When someone wants an exception to the standard, you hold the standard. You do all of this without drama, without aggression, and without needing to be liked in the moment. You're firm because you're confident, not because you're difficult. You're the person who makes the room better, not quieter. Basically, you are firm but fair.
- You think about the business, not just your job. When something isn't working, you don't wait to be asked. You ask, "how do we fix this?" and you bring an idea when you do. You want to understand how the practice makes money and what your role has to do with that. If the business grows, you want to be part of the reason why.
What we offer
- Full-time, Monday to Friday
- A practice that runs to a high standard and expects the same from everyone in it
- Direct mentorship from the principal dentist
- Real leadership scope, not just the title
- A principal who will sit down with you have new idea, share what's working and what isn't, and genuinely wants your input on how to improve
We use DISC profiling across our team
- We're looking for a specific profile: high Influence, secondary Dominance, moderate Conscientiousness.
- In plain terms: you energize the people around you, you're not afraid to make a call or have a hard conversation, and you're credible with numbers without getting lost in them.
- If you already know your DISC profile, include it in your application. If you don't, we'll ask you to complete one as part of the process.
How to apply
We require a short video application. No video, no interview. No exceptions.
In your video (2 minutes max), tell us:
- Why you're ready to lead a team, not just assist in one
- One specific situation where you made a call, held a standard, or fixed something that wasn't your job to fix

Applications without a video will not progress.
