Executive Manager

Work Type: Fixed Term - Full Time
Branch: GIS and Data Platform Management
Location: Perth
Closing Date: 2026-07-03 4:00 PM
THE OPPORTUNITY
Are you looking to make a difference as an ICT leader in one of WA’s largest public sector employers?
The Western Australia Police Force is seeking to fill the Executive Manager GIS and Data Platform on a temporary basis, initially for six (6) months with the possibility of extension.
This temporary position offers a unique leadership opportunity to drive a high-performance GIS and Data Management Platform business unit, operating at the forefront of modern digital policing. The role is embedded within a division that delivers enterprise grade geospatial and data capabilities, leveraging advanced ESRI technologies, cloud-based data services, real time spatial analytics, and integrated platforms that directly support intelligence analysis, emergency response, and operational decision making across the agency. Here, innovative use of data isn’t just theoretical—it’s integral to critical, real world use cases, from situational awareness dashboards and mapping services to integrated data pipelines and API driven interoperability.
In the role, you will contribute to elevation of the organisation’s people, processes, and technology capabilities—driving continuous improvement, strengthening partnerships with industry providers, and shaping best practice in data governance and GIS delivery. Given the scale, complexity, and operational importance of this business unit, the role calls for an upcoming leader with demonstrated management experience, capable of guiding a multidisciplinary team, sustaining high performance, and delivering outcomes in a dynamic, mission critical environment.
As the Executive Manager GIS and Data Platform, you will directly see the benefits of your innovative service delivery supporting stakeholders internally and partners within the public sector externally–ultimately contributing to the safety of the WA community.
THE ROLE
The role of the GIS and DMP Unit is to provide extensive and timely access to a wide range of spatial and non-spatial data, spatial and non-spatial analysis, spatial and non-spatial visualisation tools, and mapping.
The GIS and DMP Unit supports data management requirements of the agency through a centralised data mesh architecture and a federal data management capability.
