About Parkinson’s NSW
Parkinson’s NSW is a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to improving the lives of people living with Parkinson’s, their families, and carers.
We provide a range of services including our InfoLine, counselling, support groups, neurological nursing support and education. We also raise awareness and funds to improve the lives of people affected by Parkinson’s.
Our vision is a Parkinson’s community empowered every step of the way.
About the role
We are seeking a compassionate and clinically confident Registered Nurse to join our Client Services team as an InfoLine Officer.
This role is often the first point of contact for people living with Parkinson’s, their families, carers, health professionals and the broader community. You will respond to enquiries by phone and email, providing evidence-based clinical information, nursing guidance, emotional support, triage and referral.
This is a fast-paced, client-facing role suited to someone who enjoys meaningful phone-based work, can respond calmly to complex or emotional situations, and is confident using clinical judgement in a non-face-to-face setting.
You will also have opportunities to contribute to community education by delivering information sessions to Parkinson’s NSW support groups, both online and in person.
What you’ll be doing
In this role, you will:
- Respond to phone and email enquiries in a timely, professional and supportive manner
- Provide accurate, evidence-based information about Parkinson’s and its management
- Use clinical judgement to assess needs, risks and priorities
- Support people experiencing distress, uncertainty or complex care needs
- Triage enquiries and refer to appropriate internal services, including counselling, neurological nursing and the NDIS Advocate
- Provide information about external supports, including My Aged Care and community services
- Record client interactions and follow-ups accurately in Salesforce
- Work collaboratively with the wider Client Services team
- Deliver or support education sessions for support groups and community audiences
About you
You will be a Registered Nurse who is confident communicating by phone, comfortable working in a busy enquiry-based environment, and committed to supporting people and families navigating chronic illness.
Essential
- Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse
- Experience supporting people with chronic illness, neurological conditions, disability or ageing populations
- Strong clinical judgement
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to manage high-volume enquiry work while maintaining quality and professionalism
- Confidence supporting people through sensitive or emotional conversations
- Strong organisational and time management skills
- Computer literacy and confidence using systems such as CRM platforms
- Confidence presenting information to small groups, both online and in person
- Application for Police check
Desirable
- Experience or knowledge of Parkinson’s disease or other neurological conditions
- Experience in telephone-based, virtual care or intake/triage roles
- Knowledge of community, health, disability and aged care systems
- Experience delivering education or facilitating group sessions
