Experienced Cook – Full Time | Cairns CBD
$65,000–$70,000 + super | Wednesday–Sunday
Bourbon Street Sports Bar is looking for an experienced and reliable Cook to take ownership of our kitchen operation in Cairns CBD.
Our kitchen is the 2026 winner of Outstanding Fast Food/Takeaway at the Cairns & Region Local Business Awards. We serve a busy Asian-inspired menu with a focus on wok cooking, fried food and takeaway-style dishes.
This is primarily a one-person kitchen, so we’re looking for someone confident working independently and managing the day-to-day running of the kitchen.
About the role:
- Full-time, Wednesday–Sunday• Approx. 2:30pm–10:30pm• Kitchen service 4pm–10pm• Monday & Tuesday off every week• $65,000–$70,000 + super, depending on experience• Staff meals and employee discounts• Immediate start available
Key responsibilities:
- Running kitchen prep and service independently• Stock ordering and supplier management• Managing food costs/COGS, portion control and wastage• Maintaining food quality and consistency• Creating weekly and seasonal specials• Food safety, cleaning and kitchen organisation• Working with management on menu development and cost control
What we’re looking for:
- Minimum 2 years’ commercial kitchen experience• Recent professional references• Confident working independently• Asian-style and/or wok cooking experience highly regarded• Good understanding of stock control, ordering and food costs• Reliable, organised and able to handle busy services• Available Wednesday–Sunday• Current Australian working rights
This is a great opportunity for an experienced Cook who wants the freedom to take ownership of an established, award-winning kitchen without the excessive hours of a traditional Head Chef role.
