About us:
Lotus Glen Health Service (LGHS) is a rapidly growing service within Cairns and Hinterland Hospital and Health Service, delivering essential primary healthcare to people detained, remanded and sentenced at Lotus Glen Correctional Centre and the Lotus Glen Open Custody Farm. The service supports a diverse patient population from across North Queensland, including a significant proportion of First Nations peoples, providing a unique opportunity to improve health outcomes for an often underserved community.
Operating 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, LGHS provides comprehensive healthcare services including patient assessment, treatment, chronic disease management, emergency care and patient transfers. With healthcare delivered across a secure correctional environment housing more than 1,400 prisoners, our multidisciplinary team is committed to delivering safe, contemporary and patient-centred care that makes a meaningful difference.
About your role:
Deliver culturally responsive and safe care in line with the Queensland Health Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Cultural Capability Framework 2010-2033 and Queensland Health Workforce Diversity and Inclusion Strategy 2017-2022.
Be accountable for the application of contemporary human resource management principles in collaboration with the Director of Nursing & Nurse Unit Manager to ensure that the facility working environment meets legislative standards and Queensland Health policy.
Prescribe medications, order, initiate and interpret diagnostic pathology and/or radiology, and direct referrals to other healthcare professionals.
Participate in the planning, coordination, development and evaluation of policies, procedures, protocols, standards and systems as established by the hospital and health service, the service program and the profession, for provision of safe clinical care.
Provide effective communication, consultation and negotiation throughout the service to ensure the involvement of stakeholders.
