About the role -
Boeing Defence Australia (BDA) is seeking an experienced Senior Technical Officer Avionics to join the CH-47F Chinook sustainment team at Gallipoli Barracks, Enoggera.
This is a key role supporting the continued airworthiness, operational availability, and sustainment of the CH-47F Chinook helicopter. You will provide technical expertise across avionic and electrical systems, helping to resolve maintenance issues, support repairs and modifications, and ensure the aircraft remains safe, reliable, and mission ready.

Responsibilities -
As a Senior Technical Officer - Avionics, you will:
- Provide technical support for maintenance, repair, and preventative actions for CH-47F avionic and electrical systems.
- Support continued airworthiness and operational availability of the aircraft fleet.
- Work between engineering, maintenance, and supply chain teams to help resolve technical and operational issues.
- Apply avionics knowledge to research, test, evaluate, and support sustainment programs, modifications, repairs, and technical data.
- Assist with fault finding, troubleshooting, and solution development alongside engineering teams.
- Develop in-service correspondence and technical documentation to support safe operation and maintenance.
- Maintain and release avionics drawings, system designs, and engineering data in line with required standards.
- Provide technical and task supervision within single or cross-trade teams.
We are seeking candidates with:
- 3+ years' experience in avionics/electrical maintenance and/or engineering teams at a supervisory level.
- Strong technical knowledge of avionics and electrical systems.
- Demonstrated ability in fault finding, troubleshooting, and technical problem solving.
- Experience working collaboratively with engineering, maintenance, and operational stakeholders.
- Ability to produce and maintain technical documentation and drawings.
Highly regarded experience includes:
- Previous avionics technician experience in Defence service or Defence industry.
- Experience on rotary-wing or combat aircraft systems.
- Airline or aircraft sustainment experience.
- Exposure to continuing airworthiness or in-service support environments.
Qualifications -
- Relevant technical qualification or equivalent practical experience in avionics/electrical maintenance or engineering.
- Required AASB Engineering Authority: Logistics Engineer.
Please note: this role is primarily onsite at Gallipoli Barracks, Enoggera due to the nature of the work and operational requirements. Flexible arrangements may be available subject to business needs.
Eligibility: Applicants must be Australian citizens to meet Defence security requirements and must be willing to undergo the standard government vetting process, including a full life background check. BDA will sponsor and support the required clearance process.
