About the Role
This is an exciting opportunity to lead and shape the City's workplace health and safety function.
Reporting to the Executive Manager Human Resources and leading a Workplace Health and Safety Advisor, you will drive the development and implementation of the City's WHS Strategic Plan, safety management framework and risk management programs while providing expert guidance to leaders across the City.
You will play a key role in:
- Building a strong and proactive safety culture
- Leading WHS governance, compliance and assurance activities
- Developing practical WHS strategies, plans and frameworks
- Managing organisational WHS risks and critical controls
- Supporting managers and supervisors to meet their WHS obligations
- Leading audits, investigations and continuous improvement initiatives
- Developing safety capability through education, training and awareness
- Promoting psychological health and wellbeing in line with contemporary WHS requirements
This is a role for someone who enjoys influencing change, partnering with leaders and creating meaningful improvements that make a difference to employees every day.
Who We’re Looking For
You'll thrive in this role if you have:
- Extensive knowledge of Work Health and Safety legislation, regulations and best practice
- Experience developing and implementing WHS strategies, management systems and improvement programs
- Demonstrated success in driving positive safety culture initiatives
- Strong experience in WHS governance, compliance, injury management and risk management
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
- The ability to influence and support leaders at all levels of the City
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate data into insights and action
- A proactive, solutions-focused and collaborative approach
- Tertiary qualifications in Workplace Health and Safety, Risk Management or a related discipline (or equivalent experience)
- Current National Police Clearance
