About the role
As a Disability Support Worker, you will provide compassionate, respectful, and individualised support that promotes independence, wellbeing, and community participation. You will work closely with participants, their families, and the broader support team to ensure supports are delivered in line with each participant's goals and NDIS plan.
Key responsibilities
- Assist with personal care such as showering, dressing, grooming, and hygiene routines.
- Support clients with community access such as appointments, go shopping, recreational and social activities.
- Help with daily living and domestic support such as helping with meal preparation, laundry, cleaning, and grocery shopping.
- Engage in capacity building by encouraging client independence and skill development in line with their individual plans.
- Provide companionship and build respectful, trusting relationships
- Support clients with high physical needs or behaviours of concern
- Communicate effectively with participants and the support team to ensure goals are met
- Participate in safety and well-being of the clients by monitoring changes in the client's condition, maintaining accurate shift records, and safely implementing Positive Behaviour Support Plans
What we’re looking for
- Certificate III or IV in Individual Support, Disability, or similar qualification, or willingness to work towards this
- NDIS Worker Screening Check and Working With Children Check
- Current First Aid and CPR certificates
- Valid driver’s license and access to a fully insured vehicle
- Experience supporting people with disabilities, mental health, or complex needs is a plus
- Reliable, empathetic, and flexible with strong communication skills
Experience:
- working with individuals with autism: 1 year (Preferred)
Licence/Certification:
- Full Driver Licence (Preferred)
- First Aid Certification (Preferred)
- CPR Certification (Preferred)
- Working with Children Check (Preferred)
- NDIS Workers Check (Preferred)
- NDIS Worker Orientation Module (Preferred)
