About the role
The NHVR is seeking a skilled and collaborative Workplace Technology & Unified Communications (UC) Engineer to play a pivotal role in delivering and supporting modern communication technologies. This hybrid position is primarily focused on configuring, managing, and optimising UC platforms.
Beyond project delivery, you will provide broader oversight of key communication platforms, including Microsoft Teams and conferencing systems, helping to enhance productivity and connectivity across the organisation.
Key responsibilities of this role are:
- Support the deployment and successful delivery of the Microsoft Teams Meeting Rooms project, contributing to technical implementation efforts and facilitating a seamless transition into Business As Usual (BAU) operations.
- Assist with the configuration, management, and troubleshooting of Unified Communications (UC) platforms, including Microsoft Teams and related technologies.
- Provide technical support for video and audio conferencing solutions, assisting with the setup, maintenance, and troubleshooting of hardware such as Microsoft Teams Room Systems and Poly devices.
- Support the design and implementation of automation solutions for administrative tasks using PowerShell scripting or the Microsoft Teams Graph API to improve efficiency and system performance.
- Assist in monitoring and optimising system performance and user experience using tools such as the Microsoft Teams Call Quality Dashboard and other analytics platforms.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to support the integration of telephony systems, such as VoIP and SIP solutions, with existing UC platforms.
- Perform routine administrative tasks in Microsoft 365, such as managing SharePoint permissions and resolving user configuration and access requests.

About You
To be successful in this role you will possess proven experience in administering Unified Communications platforms, such as Microsoft Teams, SharePoint, and telephony systems (e.g., SIP/VoIP) and knowledge of Microsoft 365 collaboration tools, including their configuration and support.
The D&T team is currently in a period of significant transition and capability uplift. You will be comfortable operating in an environment where not everything is defined, processes are still maturing, and priorities can shift. You bring the ability to create clarity for your team without waiting for perfect conditions, and you understand that building something better while keeping the lights on requires both patience and pragmatism.
Your toolkit for success:
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Teams (including Teams Rooms), SharePoint, and related Unified Communications tools for collaboration and telephony.
- Demonstrated ability to diagnose and resolve issues with UC platforms, telephony systems (VoIP/SIP), and audio/video conferencing hardware (e.g., Poly devices, Teams Rooms).
- Proficiency in creating automation scripts using PowerShell and/or Microsoft Teams Graph API to streamline UC administrative tasks.
Highly Regarded
- Certifications such as Microsoft Teams Administrator Associate or equivalent UC certifications.
- Previous involvement in supporting or deploying large-scale projects, particularly those related to Unified Communications and Microsoft Teams Meeting Rooms.
- Familiarity with Teams Call Quality Dashboard or other analytics tools for monitoring system performance and analytics.
- Experience integrating telephony systems (e.g., SIP/VoIP) with Microsoft Teams or other UC platforms.
- Knowledge of ITIL processes and frameworks.
- Experience with endpoint device management platforms, such as Microsoft Intune or SCCM.
