RH BOYD & SON PTY LTD : Shoalhaven Dairy Farm Position NSW Australia
We are seeking an experienced, motivated and responsible Dairy Cattle Farmer to join our Dairy Farming business which is in the Shoalhaven region on the south coast of NSW. Our farm is 2.5 hours south of Sydney on the south coast of NSW.
It is a Full-time position offering a salary of MINIMUM OF $76,515 plus Superannuation
We have good on-farm accommodation
WE HAVE A FLEXIBLE 2 WEEK (IN ADVANCE() ROSTER
The day to day duties of the dairy position require experience in the following:
Collecting cows from paddocks using small tractor or buggy
Ensure smooth flow of cows to and from the dairy
Setting up and checking future paddocks for cows : mixture of permanent and strip electric fencing
Budgeting of grass that is in front of cows plus silage they are being fed
Breeding of cows at the dairy and re-tagging of cows as required
All activities associated with maternity cows : checking of springers and calving cows, tagging of calves, record keeping, shifting of cows between pens, sorting of springers, transporting of calves to calf yard, walking fresh cows to the dairy
Communicating with farm owners / senior staff and cow feeders/ machinery operators
Milking in the dairy
Regular hoof trimming as cows are dried off
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS FOR THE POSITION :
Experience with milking and treatment of cows
Good cattle experience and good temperament around cows
Good communication and time management skills
Knowledge of the set-up , maintenance and repairs of electric fence systems
Experience with calving of cows and general knowledge of maternity cows
AI experience
Pasture budgeting and feed management
General knowledge of herd and reproductive health
PLEASE NOTE : THIS JOB INVOLVES MANUAL LABOUR
We are in the Aust Govt Stand Business Sponsor(SBS) program as well as we are also under the DILA ( Dairy Industry Labor Agreement)
