Primary objective
The Barkly Work Camp Support Officer is responsible for providing a high quality administrative services to prisoners,
custodial and non-custodial staff at the Barkly Work Camp.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Undertake general office duties, including but not limited to mail in and out, update and create registers.
2. Assist with the processing of the weekly prisoner buys and other purchasing duties as required.
3. Provide support to other members of the Business Support Unit in Barkly Work Camp and Alice Springs Correctional
Centre including updating of prisoner records.
4. Respond to requests for information relating to prisoner account balances, status of buy requests and prisoner
repatriation travel.
5. Assist the Finance and Administration Officer with processing approved requests for prisoner private buys, funds
availability, database recording, acquitting expenditure and providing feedback to clients on the status of requests.
6. Provide other support services for financial and administrative tasks as directed.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Demonstrated experience in customer focused service delivery.
2. Demonstrated experience in providing administrative, finance and procurement services.
3. Ability to communicate effectively and interact with people from diverse cultures.
4. Ability to work with minimum supervision, use initiative and exercise confidentiality and discretion.
5. Demonstrated ability to use a variety of computerised software applications, mainframe systems and office equipment.
6. Demonstrated organisational skills, flexibility and the ability to work under pressure and complete a diverse range of
activities within deadlines.
7. Current NT Drivers Licence or the ability to obtain
Desirable
1. Knowledge of conditions of service, Public Sector Employment and Management Act, Procurement Act and relevant
legislation pertaining to NT Correctional Services Legislation.
