About the role
We are seeking a reliable and practical Station Caretaker (couple are also welcome) to help look after two remote pastoral stations in Western Australia ). This is a hands-on role focused on livestock welfare, water security and day-to-day station upkeep.
We have FarmBot/remote monitoring systems in place to monitor key water points, which reduces routine driving and supports a more targeted response model (responding to alarms and doing scheduled preventative checks).
Key duties
- Livestock welfare monitoring and incident reporting
- Monitor water points via FarmBot/remote monitoring and respond to alarms or faults
- Attend water points and infrastructure as needed for repairs, preventative maintenance, and periodic inspections
- Basic station maintenance: fences, troughs, pumps, tanks, bores and general repairs
- Fire safety readiness and general station safety checks
- Help coordinate supplies and contractors with Company approval
- Keep simple, clear records: water logs/alerts, incidents, maintenance actions, invoices/receipts
- Support compliance with animal welfare and operational requirements
What we offer
- Competitive remuneration package (based on experience) + superannuation
- Station accommodation provided
- Company vehicle and running costs for station duties and town visits
- Internet access provided for remote operations
- A role with autonomy, clear processes and support from the Company
Important to note (remote work)
- This is a remote, isolated role. We’re looking for people who are comfortable living remote and working independently.
- Work is generally rostered across 7 days as required to keep operations running and respond to issues (especially water-related).
- Phone/mobile service coverage may be limited in remote areas.
What we’re looking for
- Some experience in remote stations or rural properties (or strong practical experience in a similar environment)
- Practical maintenance capability — able to fix common issues, and organise contractors when needed
- Calm, reliable and safety-focused
- High integrity and transparent purchasing/contractor dealings
Nice to have
- Experience with FarmBot or similar remote monitoring systems
- Welding/fabrication or strong fencing repair skills
- Generator/solar troubleshooting experience
- Basic livestock handling and record keeping
- First aid or remote first aid training
