As we continue to strengthen our national People & Culture function, we're looking for an experienced People Safety & Injury Management Specialist to own our WHS governance, psychosocial safety, and workers' compensation frameworks.
This is a genuine specialist mandate, not a support role. You'll manage complex and significant workers' compensation matters, including psychological injury and disputed claims, end-to-end, while shaping the national frameworks that keep our people safe. Working closely with our GM P&C, you'll have real ownership over hard, high-stakes decisions from day one.
Your Impact
No two days will look the same, but in this role you'll:
- Directly manage complex workers' compensation claims, including psychological injury and disputed matters, from notification through to resolution
- Coordinate and support the ongoing review of our WHS Risk Action Planner and WHS Risk Committee
- Strengthen our organisation's approach to psychosocial hazards, partnering with leaders to build practical controls
- Develop and oversee return-to-work and rehabilitation strategies, working with insurers, medical providers and legal advisers
- Build nationally consistent WHS, injury management and workers' compensation policies, procedures and tools
- Analyse injury, claims and risk data to identify trends and inform reporting to our GM P&C, Executive and WHS Risk Committee
- Provide specialist advice and escalation support to P&C Business Partners managing other claims
- Build leader and P&C capability through practical training, guidance and coaching.

Skills and Experiences:
What You'll Bring
You'll be someone who's comfortable operating strategically while still willing to get into the details of a complex, sensitive case.
You'll bring:
- Demonstrated experience in a WHS, people safety, injury management or workers' compensation role within a multi-site complex organisation
- Strong practical experience managing complex workers' compensation claims, including psychological injury and disputed matters
- Sound knowledge of Australian WHS and workers' compensation legislation across multiple jurisdictions
- Demonstrated understanding of psychosocial hazards and contemporary risk management
- Strong case management, investigation and problem-solving capability
- The ability to interpret medical, legal and technical information and translate it into practical workplace advice
- Excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills
- Experience within a large, multi-site or people-intensive organisation (education, care, health or community services) will be highly regarded.
