FinXL is seeking a SCADA / EMS Specialist to join our consulting team and be deployed with a leading Energy client on a 12+ months contract in Brisbane City. This position offers deep technical engagement within critical infrastructure, focusing on high-availability real-time control systems. You will play an essential role in maintaining existing EMS / SCADA stability while supporting a major generational transition to a modern Advanced Energy Management System (AEMS). Working closely with engineering, testing, and vendor teams, you will help secure continuous network operations, perform system troubleshooting, and ensure data integrity. Support key long-term programs of work! SCADA, Energy Management Systems (EMS), High Voltage system.
Responsibilities

Configuration, Testing and Support of SCADA systems in the Energy sector, ideally Energy Management Systems

Manage the parallel operation of the existing system alongside new and assess any discrepancies, and identify defects.

Diagnose operational efficiency and suggest solutions to prevent downtime.

Execute comprehensive functional testing on EMS and AEMS software to validate system processes, telemetry accuracy, and overall data integrity.

Partner with engineering and project delivery teams to implement control system changes in full compliance with safety and regulatory frameworks.

Support peer technical specialists to achieve user-focused operational outcomes and cohesive enterprise solutions.

Foster collaborative relationships with key stakeholders and actively engage in industry forums to help inform future network operational standards.
Key Skills & Experience

Strong background working in real-time control environments, with a solid grasp of high-availability, system resilience, and continuous network monitoring.

Proven expertise troubleshooting EMS/SCADA environments, including isolating faults across data flows, telemetry, displays, and interfaces.

Demonstrated experience managing database changes, telemetry mappings, and release processes across development, test, and production stages.

Ability to drive testing and transition efforts such as FAT, SAT, and parallel running to guarantee seamless platform migration.

Excellent stakeholder communication skills, effectively bridging technical requirements between control room operators, engineering teams, and external vendors.

Tertiary qualifications in Engineering, Information Technology, or a related discipline.

Highly regarded: Experience with Monarch (Emerson), GENe (GE), ICCP protocols, or high-voltage transmission control systems.
Engagement Details

12+ months contract with an Energy client.

Hybrid working model with 3 days/ week in the office in Brisbane City.

This role is open to candidates open to relocate to Brisbane.
